Music Academy Welcomes Piano Instructor, Annetta Brewster-Deck

The Music Academy is proud to announce and welcome the addition of Mrs. Annetta Brewster-Deck to its faculty.

Mrs. Deck is a graduate of the University of New Mexico where she received her Master’s Degree in Piano Performance/Pedagogy where she studied under Arlette Felberg, Rita Angel and Falko Steinbach.  Mrs. Deck received her Bachelor’s Degree from Eastern New Mexico University where she studied with John Olsen and Paul Murphy.  She served as secretary for the Albuquerque Music Teacher’s Association from 2002-2005 where she adjudicated several piano performance competitions.  She has served as an accompanist for various programs and events and enjoys teaching piano to people of all ages who are eager to learn and appreciate the art of piano performance. The Music Academy is currently accepting piano students for the fall semester with Mrs. Deck.

The Academy is also excited to announce the return of the Academy Children’s Choir!  The choir, instructed by Mrs. Jacquie Mitchell, is open to all children ages 7 to 14.   Mrs. Mitchell is currently the children’s choir coordinator and Director of the Young Musicians choir at Central Baptist Church; and the music educator at Crossville Christian School teaching general music and choir to students in Pre-K3 through 8th grades. The Academy Choir will be taught basic choral skills such as breathing techniques, pitch matching, harmony, rhythm, note reading, and sight-singing along with vocal health and anatomy. Participants will develop confidence and increase their singing skills with fun and music. The Academy is pleased to be able to offer the children’s choir to the community tuition free!  Throughout the year students will participate in community events, performances, and caroling.  Call today to reserve your child a spot and discover the joy of music!

We are also accepting enrollment for our Kindermusik® classes.  This program is designed for children ages newborn to seven years old. The new Family Time class, which allows parents with multiple age children to participate in the same class, was very successful last year and we are now enrolling for the second term of this curriculum. Enroll now for classes which will begin the week of August 21st.

The Music Academy, a non-profit school of music, is currently offering Kindermusik®, piano, Children’s Choir, private voice, violin, and viola in the fall schedule.

The Music Academy is a non-profit school of music, and we need your help in order to insure all students are able to enjoy lessons regardless of their family’s financial status. We do not want to turn anyone away and only a few dollars a week will help children experience a quality musical education.  We currently have several students in need of a scholarship to help cover the Academy’s expenses.  Will you open your heart and share the joy of music with a child?

Any individual or corporation willing to underwrite any of these programs, sponsor a child, or donate musical instruments is asked to please contact us right away. Be a part of the music education of young people in our area! Current sponsors include Ms. Jo Ann Rains, Best Western Leisure Inn, Mitchell Drug Company, J. Hicks Excavating, Inc., and the Fairfield Glade Ladies’ Club.

The Academy will be having a fundraising event the week of October 9th with gently used and new clothing in all sizes for women, men, and kids, good furniture, books, and other items. Please come out and support this great cause!
